My handbrake drum brake needed to be taken apart as a bolt came off inside and caused some jamming problems. I am now putting the whole lot back together.
I need some advice as to how to best adjust the brake shoes within the handbrake drum behind the gear box.
I understand how to turn to the little thumb sleeve to expand the shoes, but that is not what I am referring to.
However, I need to understand the best technique/process in adjusting the brake shoes so that they do not touch the drum when in a relaxed state. In other words, how to best center them to equal distance from the drum on both sides and not slightly touching and make them stay there.
It appears that you need to loosen each of the 2 bolts with the rounded top that hold the thin V shaped springs and goes through the back plate and move them around, is that right?
Is there some order of doing things correctly?
thank you |
