Tere,
I am importing a 63 GAZ 21 into Australia over the next month from Estonia.
I do not know of any others at all here.
We no longer have leaded fuel in Australia.
We only have 91, 95 and 98 Octane available.
Which is the best Octane rating to use and do I need to add an additive for the Volga? _________________ Lembit Marder

Dear comrade,
as we speak, there is a discussion held also in Estonian in the same forum ( http://www.volga.ee/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2918 ). Experienced comrades tell us, that the octane rating 91 and 95 are both fine, there is no need for leaded fuel. The change in Russian engine building (new type of valves and valve seats) was made somewhere in the `60s, after that the engines run on unleaded fuel.
Assuming, that Your car`s engine was once or more completely rebuilt during the rough exploitation, You can safely drive to the gas station and tell the poor afro-american to fill it up with 91 or 95.
On the other hand, some of our true comrades prefer to use different additives in a GAZ-21, as it "looks", "sounds" and "smells" better (lead additives, 2T oil).
Have fun with Your "Volga" and be ready to answer many questions in Australia (local people, police, Secret Service etc).
